The Challenge
This manufacturer was referred by their insurer for Business Continuity Planning support. The organisation wanted to strengthen its resilience against operational disruption and recognised the need for a more robust and structured Business Continuity Plan.
As a business with operational, supply chain, customer service, retail and digital dependencies, they needed to understand which activities were most critical and what resources would be required to maintain or recover them during disruption.
The company required a business continuity approach that would identify key risks, clarify recovery priorities, improve crisis response arrangements and provide a practical framework for continuity planning.
Our Approach
Horizonscan delivered the project in two phases.
Phase 1 focused on analysis and risk identification. A Business Impact Analysis was conducted to identify critical processes, operational dependencies, recovery objectives and required resources. A risk register was also developed to capture relevant threats and vulnerabilities.
Phase 2 focused on plan development and response capability. Horizonscan developed a high-level Business Continuity Plan based on the Business Impact Analysis findings. Existing response documentation was reviewed, and a communication strategy was established to support effective coordination during a disruptive event.
The approach covered the core elements of continuity planning, including risk assessment, recovery objectives, resource requirements, communication routes, roles and responsibilities and practical response actions.
Creating a tailored continuity framework aligned to real operational risks.
The Outcome
The organisation developed a tailored Business Continuity Plan that reflected its specific operational risks and business needs. The plan provided a clear framework for responding to disruption, maintaining essential activities and minimising operational impact.
The project improved the organisation’s understanding of its critical processes and helped strengthen its ability to manage crises with greater confidence. It also created a foundation for ongoing resilience development and future plan testing.
As a result, they became better prepared to respond to disruption, protect key operations and maintain continuity for customers, staff and stakeholders.
